Phew, finally my quest for my first 100M was completed at Rocky Raccoon on 7-8 Feb. I am working on my Race Report. I was curious to see how my body reacts once i get through this distance. The path to recovery has been nice and easy. My body was beat up much worse at Bandera.
Rocky got over on Sunday, i ice my feet on Monday and Tuesday. Easy run on Wed run for 2 hours. (Its important to get some run to flush out the toxins and the lactic acid buffered in your muscles) Did some upper body strengthening on Thursday & Friday. Paced a Team Asha Volunteer for half marathon distance on Sunday at Austin Marathon. So far, its been a wonderful recovery. I am planning to get a deep tissue massage tomorrow that would complete the circle. This would make me ready for next season.
My immediate goal is to identify races for next six months & draw up a running schedule. For now,
~ i registered for Jemez 50M,
~ undecided on Moab 100M (3/28)
(Plus: Beautiful course Cons: Too early for next 100?, Need to run 5.36 M loop 18+ times),
Cactus Rose 100M ( Plus: Local race with great support, My fav course Cons: Course is a bitch it will drain every ounce of your mental strength)
~ wish to crew\volunteer at Hardrock (7/10-12), Leadville (8/22-23).
(Plus: Primer for next year mountain races, superb training platform at altitude, Get to meet elites Cons: L'ville is on same date as Lean Horse where i have unfinished business)
~ Grand Canyon R2R2R; need to decide on the date. Ideal time would be two weeks after Hardrock or Leadville. It would be a interesting run to do it alone. Cant wait to get this done this year.
For now, i am relieved on getting my 1 100M buckle & am planning on drinking binge this week before i start my training again.
