Bygones are zilch..

Fortunately the past is zilch. True at some point in time, the past was present where decisions were translated to action, but as far as now in standing, it is zilch. To that extent the past is important only to the point of holding a referential points to support our emotional memory. By far 2010 was most challenging period ever. Few are privy to those. Well, 2012 is now, 2011 is done, 2010 is not there!

Started the year 2011 with intention of getting back to running, but it never took off as i intended. There were quite a few activities, here are notable ones from the fading memory bank.

Jan-Apr'11: Got introduced and involved in a stage show with folks at SWARAM.org. It involved working with directly/indirectly with 100 people. What started as a few hours of work turned out to be a second job. I had minimal contribution to the show with 50-60% involvement level. Having said that - 1. it was a welcome break to do something different 2. Got introduced to folks passionate about media/arts. 3. What stoked me most was our ability to raise $45K for an orphanage.

On the whole it was a blast. Definitely quite a learning experience to know how theater works. Trust me it was no different than training for a 100 Miler, you have to live n train for the event.

May-Aug '11: During this time, I absolutely wanted to get out of my current job. Did something stupid - left my job without having another one. Not a wise call, but sometimes you have to shake yourself to move in what you feel is the right direction. Got to do lots of running at Mission Peak during this time. Got a new job too! Lucky bastard!

Added few races to the tally. nothing worth mentioning. What definitely worth a blog is Grand Canyon R2R2R in May. It was an epic trip with fav HCTR folks. Ran n walked with Gimli most of the distance until i melted.

Post GC, started my training for LT 100 (target race for 2011) which was never to happen. As a result of this training, got couple of confidence boosting PRs:
1. My best mile 5.40 mins 2. Mission Peak (up n down) PR 1.08 Hr

Of course, how can i forget this. Had a paid vacation at Western States. Paced Ryan Beard for about ~30 Miles. Beautiful course. Race as such seemed to be too big for my liking.

Went to Mt Whiteny in Aug '11 with JT n gang. Of course beer was involved in the trip. Had to turn around 1/2 mile from the peak due to severe migraine like headache. Turned out to be the case of wisdom teeth gnashing the nerves. Had to undergo the extraction procedure with week before LT100. Wisdom teeth went down the drain, so did my leadville. No it was not possible to postpone the surgery, the pain was just unbearable.

Oct '11 to Dec '11
Was super hyper after reading "The Perfect Mile". Did my own fat ass 12 hr run, 1 mile loop, around my hood. It was good silo run until Gnocchi joined me for few laps in late afternoon.

Lots of drinking, and what else, yeah Across the Years to wrap up 2011.

On the whole - year filled with rich experience. I suppose, it pays well if you are a journey man.

Toast to glorious times, for now and only now. afterall past is zilch, and whats' future? And, yeah keep loading your Karma Bank!
